LegacySMP in-game screenshot in Minecraft

LegacySMP

LegacySMP is an actively updated semi-vanilla cross-platform Minecraft server running a 5+ year old world. The only thing that ever changes here is the Minecraft version, and you can rest assured that any builds you make on this server will be ever-lasting. We have no plans to ever discontinue this server. Running 24/7, 365.

How to activate in-game benefits

In order to sync your accounts and receive your sub benefits you need to be using a Java Edition account. If you're playing on Bedrock Edition please see the Cross-Play & Bedrock Edition Guide below for information on how to log into a Java Edition account when playing on Bedrock Edition.

Step one

Join the server

Step two

Type "/discord link" into chat

Step three

Take note of the 4-digit code you'll get in chat

Step four

Send the code to “LegacySMP Bot#1574” in a direct message on Discord

Cross-Play & Bedrock Edition Guides

Guides on how to join from all platforms, how to sync Bedrock and Java edition characters, and general cross-platform info.

General cross-platform info

At its core, LegacySMP is a Minecraft Java Edition server. Because of this, there are several gameplay differences that Bedrock Edition players may not be used to. For example, things like the Java Edition combat system, Java Edition redstone mechanics, and Bedrock not allowing players to place blocks (or see them!) above the nether ceiling.

We use the plugins Geyser and Floodgate to bridge the gap between Java and Bedrock Editions to allow players to play on either platform. More information can be found in the Plugin Guide section below.

A full list of limitations can be found here on GeyserMC's wiki

How to sync your Bedrock and Java Edition accounts

If you're playing on Bedrock Edition on Playstation, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch, and the method you used to join already prompted you to sign into a Java Edition account you won't need to do this.

If you're playing on Bedrock Edition for Windows, iOS, or Android however, in order to have one character that's synced with Java Edition you will need to follow the guide linked below.

Also, during the process you will be asked to sign into the Microsoft account for your Bedrock Edition account, and another for your Java Edition account. There's a good chance these are the same account now that Java Edition uses Microsoft accounts. Even though you may be using the same account, you will still have to log into it twice in order for the server to know the two characters are the same.

How to join from Bedrock Edition on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch

There are a number of ways to join Java Edition servers from Bedrock Edition on console. Public GeyserConnect is a good resource that provides information on a lot of different ways you can join.

Please note, many of these methods will require a Java Edition account to play.

Also, given how inconsistent these methods can be we will not offer any support to players having issues connecting from consoles and highly recommend you play from Java Edition or Bedrock Edition for Windows/iOS/Android.

Plugin Guide

means the plugin has extra subscriber benefits.

CoreProtect

CoreProtect is a plugin that we use to moderate the server. It creates logs for various ways players can interact with the world and other players which we can use to roll things back as needed if any player is caught griefing, stealing, hacking, and more.

Click here to view the CoreProtect Spigot page

DiscordSRV

DiscordSRV is what we use to sync messages between in-game and the #legacysmp-server-chat channel in Discord.

Anyone can send messages from in-game and read these messages in Discord, but only subscribers can send messages (and images!) from Discord to the game.

We also use a plugin called InteractiveChat DiscordSRV Addon that allows us to make use of the in-game features of InteractiveChat in Discord. Check out the InteractiveChat section for more info.

EssentialsX

EssentialsX is a plugin you'll find on nearly every Minecraft server that isn't fully vanilla. You're probably familiar with a lot of the commands EssentialsX offers, but given that we are aiming to keep LegacySMP feeling like vanilla Minecraft, you'll find that most of these commands are disabled and that is intentional. Players only have access to the basics that don't modify any gameplay. And yes, that means no teleporting.

All player features

/afk

/help

/ignore

/mail

Sub only features

Subs can also change the color of their nickname and messages in-game by typing “&#” - replacing the # with a number 0-9 or a letter a-f - before the rest of the text.

Geyser / Floodgate

Geyser

Geyser is the plugin that we use to allow Bedrock Edition game clients to join our Java Edition server.

Floodgate

Floodgate is the plugin that allows Bedrock Edition players to join without a Java Edition account. This only works for Windows, iOS, and Android versions of Bedrock Edition.

For more information on how to join using our cross-play features, please view the Cross-Play and Bedrock Edition Guides section above.

GriefPrevention

GirefPrevention is a very simple protection plugin that allows players to claim land and prevent people from stealing or griefing from them in any way.

By default, players have 400 claim blocks, which is enough for a simple house or base. Subs have access to an extra 500,000 claim blocks, and no, that's not a typo. That's enough to claim entire cities!

Click here to view a tutorial on how to use GriefPrevention.

InteractiveChat

InteractiveChat

InteractiveChat allows players to interact with chat in all new ways. For example, you can type [item] in chat while holding something to show it to other players. The other players can then open chat, hover over the item, and even click on it to view the item in an inventory-like interface. Other examples are [inv] to show your entire inventory, and [ender] to show off your ender chest.

Only Java Edition players will be able to make use of viewing things in chat. Bedrock Edition players can still share items, they just won't be able to view them.

InteractiveChat DiscordSRV Addon

InteractiveChat DiscordSRV Addon helps us further cross the bridge between in-game and Discord by allowing the InteractiveChat features to work in the #legacysmp-server-chat channel on Discord. For example, sharing an item in chat in-game will post an image of the item as if you took a screenshot of you hovering over it in-game.

Subs can take it a step further and even share images directly in #legacysmp-server-chat which will then show up for players to either open a browser to view or preview in-game on a map!

The InteractiveChat Spigot page has more information than listed above

InvisibleItemFrames

InvisibleItemFrames is a sub-only plugin that allows players to do more with item frames. They can make them invisible, allow passthrough to right click containers behind them, and set glow colors on the frame itself or the item inside.

This plugin only works on Java Edition.

Sub only features

/itf

/itf toggle

/itf togglemode

/itf scan

Click here to view the InvisibleItemFrames Spigot pageThe InvisibleItemFrames Spigot page has very comprehensive guide on how to use all of the features.

Kix's Auto Announcer ++

Kix's Auto Announcer ++ is what we use to display automated messages containing server notes, tips, our social media links, and more!

Subs can disable these messages using /an toggle

Click here to view kixmc's Spigot page

Kix's Auto Announcer ++'s Spigot page is private and only viewable by those who have paid for access.

PlayerStats

PlayerStats syncs your in-game stats which allows players to view and share their stats with everyone else! It also allows players on Bedrock Edition to view in-game statistics that are normally only tracked and viewable on Minecraft Java Edition. Type /stat in-game to get started.

If you're playing on Java Edition the game will offer autocomplete for each part of the command. If you're on Bedrock Edition you'll want to watch the video below which will show you all of the options this plugin has to offer.

TogglePvp

TogglePVP allows players to toggle whether or not other players can attack them. It can be used by typing /pvp in chat.
